In her paintings, Iris Kufert-Rivo examines the ways in which we understand the world simultaneously through the intellectual and the emotional. Through the repetitive use of rectilinear forms and the limited toolset of a straight edge, tape, and palette knife, Kufert-Rivo open up a world of play in the color space. There is order in the shape and technique and freedom in the interplay of color. Elegant and nuanced, the paintings range from deep and moody to jewel-like in their tones.
