THROUGH THE SHADOWS
It all starts with an aesthetic walk through the cemeteries. I don't remember ever having done them and I only remember going once to have an encounter with death. I made a point of leaving as quickly as possible, but now I'm a regular.
Through the Shadow is a set of photographs that show us the incursions made into the Toural cemetery in Bragança, the Agramonte cemetery in Porto and the Fajão cemetery in Pampilhosa da Serra.
Here, the reality represented tells us about the heritage of cemeteries and the heterogeneous meanings that can be attributed to these places.
To that extent, admitting my lack of interest in only documenting my wanderlust, I'm mainly interested in challenging the gaze of the beholder.
