This book highlights the developmental process for creating, Land of Spirit - Franklin County Georgia's Folk Life Play. It traces the premiere production, THE LAST HARD TIMES, from dream to reality - including, construction of a theatre; assistance from Swamp Gravy Institute, interviewing of local citizens for their stories; the hiring of Community Performance, Inc. for writing and directing the play: and, on to the first production. Full color photographs of volunteers, cast, crew and storytellers are presented on 160 pages.

Dr. Hulsey was born and reared in Lavonia, Georgia. She married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Hulsey in 1963. She earned her doctorate from the University of Georgia and spent 30 years in the field of Technical Education. Since retiring from her positon as a Technical College President, they have returned to their hometown of Lavonia. Dr. Hulsey is active in community volunteer work and in her spare time she enjoys photography and gardening. She says, "Publishing books on Blurb.com is fun and it's exciting to see your photographs published even if they are of amateur status. " My books are books of love - for people, my community, and my family.
