“Michael Klinkhamer's impressive photo essay 'Travelers Along The Highway' shows photos of people who are close to the extreme - that of poor living conditions.
In his Time Travelers Along the Highway we indeed see images of poverty, overcrowded houses more like corrugated iron huts and beer-drinking people in rags in a depressing, dreary, harsh environment.
And yet, and yet, fortunately this is not the author's dominant image of the Aborigines along the Highway. Despite their loss of land, language and traditional culture, most of the striking faces radiate pride and self-esteem.
