Stories and photos from a year of travel around the world doing research through a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, 2008-2009. The author visited the Azores, South Africa, New Zealand, Tonga, Japan, Norway, and Argentina to explore difficult cultural relationships with whales and whaling.
