This book of photographs, taken during evening walks with flash camera, documents the market squares of Kathmandu, Nepal: Asan Tole, Balaju, Bhotahity, Chhetrapati, Nayabajar, Paknajol, and Thahiti, all districts known for their multitude of shops. This is Kathmandu’s local economy, where people do their shopping for evening meals and household needs, and where they celebrate their numerous festivals. These are also the neighborhoods that the Newars, the most ancient ethnic group in the Kathmandu Valley, call home.
