Robert Laws is a research scientist working in Cambridge. He has published many scientific papers in the fields of underwater bio-acoustics and marine geophysics. When he was a child his family lived on a boat and he has retained a love of the life afloat ever since, although today he lives in a house.

His other interests include: classical music, woodwork, clay, hiking, reading and writing, perception, psychology and personal development, stereo-photography, house-building, wild swimming, cycling, the outdoors, and the past.
