My practice is based around the differences that time brings over an extended period and addresses the concept of memory and the past, often uniting the past and present. My work addresses the differences within people that time brings and the vulnerability and lack of control that inevitably exists in each of our lives. I often push boundaries into abstract techniques that transform something forgotten into a new and undefined moment in time. It also reflects an obsession with the process of age and the value of change whilst encouraging an audience to contemplate the concept of time itself, within the medium of photography.
As a disabled person without an initially visible disability, my current body of work explores the theme of the ‘disabled gaze’ . I explore this theme by using access issues as a kernel where I address the perceptions of disabled people, thereby encouraging people to assess their detrimental attitudes and actions.
