À propos du livre
The kitchen was the center of the old home place, as any of you who ever visited there would remember. It has a special place in my heart because it was my first home. Mom was finishing her last year at Bethel and Dad was away in the war. My babysitters were my young aunts Barbara, June and Shirley.
Memories only come years later when I would visit for Sunday dinners which we all have great memories of I am sure. One special memory I have of Grandmother was when I would go into the busy kitchen and ask what they were cooking, she would answer, "layovers to catch meddlers". That was her sense of humor.
Baking seemed to be the specialty of the Hart family. I think all of us have enough recipes to make separate cookbooks from our mom's recipes.
Here are Grandmother Hart's recipes written in her own handwriting. I must comment here that each day as I looked at, read and scanned her recipes, I was struck by the sweet aroma of spices of all kinds that had soaked into the paper, straight from her kitchen. A complete and joyful surprise!
Hope you enjoy reading them.
