À propos du livre
Soap factory Bousquet in Delft closed its doors in 2003. The images in this book were taken just after production ceased. What was left was the dust of centuries documenting the decline of an industry.
The pictures captured the last remains of the inventory, deteriorating leftovers and neglected buildings in natural light. They document the industrial heritage as a still life. The camera was used to experiment. The iso set high for extra grain, moved to show textures, held close to the subjects to enhance their tactile qualities.
The accompagnying text is composed from recipies for soap, fragments of laboratoy minutes and descriptions of production methods. They were taken from scraps of paper and stained books found on scattered fragments of paper and in the stained books left on the floors.

delft, the netherlands
Twan Jütte is an urban planner and architect who studied history of art and worked as a journalist too. His experience in photography and graphic design led to experiment with images and text, searching for situations that normally don't deserve a second glance. Using technical imperfections and limited natural light he enhances spatial and tactile qualities. The combination of images with text into books add an extra layer to his pictures.
