À propos du livre
In the 1960’s my children played a recording of an American folk song called ‘DELLA AND THE DEALER’.
It had been written by a brilliant Oklahoma musician Hoyt Axton.
He composed this song, then he sang it accompanied by his guitar and his great ‘Country and Western’ band.
It was a musical story containing a happy yet wondrous and upbeat beauty. To me that haunting tune was unforgettable.
Some 10 years after I had heard ‘DELLA AND THE DEALER’, my friend, the photographer Sam Haskins, gave me a copy of his ‘COWBOY KATE’ book.
It displays magnificently a photographic narrative which resonates the ‘DELLA AND THE DEALER’ lyrics so magically to me.
Both were in complete harmony and I decided that one day, I would put together a pictorial narrative which would try to capture a combination of the wonderful musical and pictorial story telling strands.
So, my wife Jetty, helped me get the two narratives, with the addition of some ad-libbing of course, moulded into yet another story.
‘Zweli & Nobule’ is a tale which I dedicate to two greats:
Sam Haskins and Hoyt Axton!
