The Long View Into Space is a mixed media collage book created by altering a children's science book of the same title written by Seymour Simon and originally published in 1979. After discovering a second hand copy of the book at a thrift store in upstate New York, Dickinson was inspired to work with the grainy black and white images of outer space and various celestial bodies. By combining imagery from the original book with paint, gold leaf, acrylic media, original mono prints, and a variety of sampled images from other vintage books of the 1970s and 80s, Dickinson has created several abstract compositions uniting the earthly world with the mysteries of the universe.
