Dr. Wagner is a graduate of Princeton and Northwestern Universities and has held faculty positions at five leading US medical institutions. Dr. Wagner led the research team that accomplished the first transfer of a functional gene between species, when in 1979 he produced the first transgenic animal, a mouse with a rabbit hemoglobin gene. Since these early studies Dr. Wagner has been a pioneer in the development of gene and cell based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. Dr. Wagner has published in excess of 200 papers in leading scientific journals. He is founder and serves as Chief Scientific Officer of PerseusPCI and Elios Therapeutics, companies focused on the development and clinical testing of a highly effective therapeutic cancer vaccine. In addition to his medical and academic research, Dr. Wagner has founded seven US Biotechnology Companies and served as an adviser for medicine and biotechnology to the US Congress and the President Ronald Reagan White House.
