À propos du livre
Published to accompany the exhibition Haven: Kelly Duffield, organized by Naropa University. Naropa University, Nalanda Gallery January 17 - February 28, 2020.
Featuring nearly 30 works produced by Duffield since 2017. Floating children with flower heads, normal environments with couches and lawns that are filled with uncharacteristic objects, and relationships to scale that are unworldly, but somehow fit the scene. Duffield’s vast, flat backdrops emphasize her meticulously surreal (and witty) renderings of hearth and heart. Duffield’s work reminds us to revel in the unpredictability of modern-day life. It’s a testament to the truth that a life in which everything stay in its rightful place might be very dull indeed.
Duffield’s imagery is presented with a diverse selection of writings by authors and poets including: Deanne Gertner, Jennifer Heath, Lori Lucas, Janice McCullagh, Charmain Schuh, Yasmeen Siddiqui and Jennifer Lee Sullivan.
