À propos du livre
In October 2017 a series of 250 wildfires burned across Northern California
destroying over 10,000 structures in what was at the time the worst fire disaster in California history.
Although Adam Shaw’s home and studio in the Sonoma Valley were miraculously
spared, many of his neighbors lost everything. The artist was displaced for two months after which time he returned home to undertake a new body of work
which was his response to the catastrophe and a first-hand awareness of the reality of climate change.
This volume documents the work which rose from the ashes. It is comprised of
the installation, “Beauty Born in Flames,” at the Museum of Sonoma County, and
supplemented by 16 additional pieces which were made concurrently.
