The second half of the twentieth century may well be titled by history "The Bush Era" for indeed no family has been more at the forefront of that time period than two United States Presidents, a Florida Governor and Connecticut United States Senator all with the last name Bush and all the same family.



This book illustrates the wide variety of objects used in political campaigns in America and in particular the Bush family campaigns. For a collector it is a dream to see the sheer volume of items. It matters little what a person collects as there is something here for that collector whether it be dolls, thimbles, postcards, toys, bottles, or as could be expected--political campaign buttons, bumper stickers and posters.



The author of this volume started collecting Bush memorabilia at the beginning in 1964 when George H. W. Bush ran for the U. S. Senate in Texas the first time and when the author was only 13 and has never stopped collecting. This book is the result.

Ronald E. Wade

Ronald E. Wade was born in Gilmer, Upshur County, Texas, the son of Ellis W.Wade and Rosedyne Langford Wade. As a child Ron would sit at the feet of his grandparents and great-grandparents and listen to family history. At age 17 Ron wrote his first book, A Pioneer Southern Family Life published by the Texian Press of Waco, Texas recording all of the family lore he had meticulously recorded. He published a second book The Langford Legacy in 1983 also by the Texian Press. As the "family historian" members of the family gave Ron fascinating family correspondence, photographs, records and artifacts which he carefully preserved and donated in 2005 to the East Texas Research Center at Stephen F. Austin University. A lifetime in politics led to friendships with many U.S. Presidents including close relationships with both Presidents Bush. His wife Laura and their 2 children live in Longview, Texas where he has built an exact replica of the White House Oval Office at his home.
