Born 1950 in St Paul MN to Nettie & Dr George Hopkins. I am the 3rd of their five boys. Grew up in Hudson WI (near St Paul MN). I went to UW Madison 1968-1970. Grew upset with college (and the Vietnam War), I returned to Hudson & I worked as an aide at Hudson’s hospital. I observed surgery when Dad was operating, and got a feel for doctoring. I married Mary Ann Brunner June 1971, and started back to school in the fall at the U of Minn. In 1973 started Med School at George Washington in DC. Mary Ann worked for 3M Company at their main offices in St Paul, and she arrange a transfer to Springfield VA branch outside Washington DC. In 4 years we moved back to the U of Minn for family practice residency. Wm B Hopkins was born in '77 Lucas J Hopkins was born '79. In 1980 we moved to Owen WI, pop 800, lived in an old farmhouse, worked hard for 22 yrs, moved to FL, work half time, travel, research, travel more, & write. Constantly nag distant cousins for stories, pictures, etc.
