12-year-old Zanyania Parker, or Zanya, is starting her first day of middle school. She doesn’t know anybody there except her best friend, Ani, but she doesn’t care. For a little bit, there are just a few mistakes here and there. But eventually, mistakes pile up, for everyone. Then, all of a sudden, all school drama starts to happen, and life starts to seem more movie-like by the day. Can she ignore it, or will the challenging times crush her down and change her into a normal middle school kid?
