In these photographs taken from Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor between Kingston, RI and New York City the photographer brings us the beautiful and the banal with compassion wrung from familiarity. From dawn to dusk, throughout the seasons, in all types of weather the photographs hint at the coming catastrophe that rising sea level will inflict on the narrow rail right of way. The urban complexity of Queens, the run down industrial cities of Connecticut, as well as its stunning coast, the melancholic woods of the Great Swamp, are all pictured here in atmospheric color. Truly a testament to the passage of time made in the blink of any eye.
