Kagiso’s life in the slums of Philadelphia is a far cry from his mother’s childhood home on the plains of South Africa. During the summer before his freshman year of high school, his best friend, Tony, asks for his help in a heist with a local gang. Hoping to put an end to the bargain between him and the scavengers; Kagiso agrees, confident in his ability to reason with them. But when the plan goes awry, both boys realize what a horrible mistake they’ve made. As his mother comes to his rescue, Kagiso is thrust back into the world of his boyhood nightmares—one full of monsters, demons, and ancient spirits. In order to save his mother and prevent the collapse of the Mirage dividing two worlds, he must join forces with the warriors of an African American Tribe and unlock the secrets of his past. But in order to restore the barrier to its original state, Kagiso must make an important decision. Will he be able to restore balance, without disrupting it in the process?
