Ashok Z. Samuel is not a trained artist but a self-taught hobby artist. He has been interested in pencil drawing and painting since childhood. The book, Creations of Illusion, is the first collection of his paintings in print. Ashok is a native of Kerala, an Indian state in South India. He obtained a Ph.D. in Science from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. He is living with his beloved wife, Silpa Abraham, and lovely baby boy, Nathanael. Ashok is the elder son of Mr. Samuel Zachariah (late) and Mrs. Alice Samuel. His mother, Alice, lives in Bangalore with his brother Dr. Vinod Oommen Samuel. Vinod is married to Dr. Vanessa Andrade.
