À propos du livre
They say that it is the journey and not the destination. This book is both.
I was going to New York City for my college reunion by way of Quebec City, Montreal and cities along the Saint Lawrence River. There is the ‘getting there’ and the ‘being there.’ Even the ‘being there’ is getting there as well.
Always moving, always poking in and out of stores, streets, parks, trains, boats, museums.
A road trip to be sure. But the images are more than the blur of moments and places passing in front of the lens.
Sometimes the adventure is in the art object, and several of those objects are included in this collection. Those are the museum pieces. But another part of the adventure is what is going on around the object, what people are doing around the art found in museums. Then, there are the other images - my street photographs – which place the adventure back inside the art object - these are my ‘paintings.’ Perhaps this conceptual difference is unimportant, but it may be worth thinking about – about how we locate that peculiar element of interest in art, the adventure.
Enjoy this collection, this road trip, this adventure – the journey and the destination.
