À propos du livre
A garden is significant to describing cultural identity, especially in Britain, where garden ownership is in the majority.
The maisonettes in Flint, North Wales, were originally designed as open plan, with no gardens; the residents soon constructed fencing and lawn areas.
No bigger than 4 by 4 metres, the maisonette gardens can be seen as a “biography of a garden” and the residents as “authors”. Ruddy faced gnomes, plastic animals, wind chimes, lilies, hyacinths and chrysanthemums stand in for memories of illness, loss, family, heartache, joy and remembrance. 240.Hortulus is a celebration of the commitment and pride that people locate to their gardens.

North Wales
Questioning and inventing trajectories between anthroplogy, social geography and art. To consider production of an artwork through ‘conduct’ rather producing a form through the practices and encounters that inform the art of landscape painting, beyond the act itself. A kind of mapping the terrain through dialogue.
