À propos du livre
This is an impressive travel photo book about of the most picturesque neighborhood of Panama City built by the Spanish Conquistadores in 1613. It was here where Panama City was rebuilt after it was destroyed by the Welsh privateer Henry Morgan in 1671. Morgan attacked Panama City, landing on the Caribbean coast and traversing the isthmus before he attacked the city, which was on the Pacific coast. The battle was a rout, although the privateers profited less than in other raids. Many of the original houses and stone walls which surrounded the city are still standing. As you walk through the Casco Viejo (Old Shell) you will feel as if the clocks had stopped ticking. The streets are covered with red brick and most of the houses are decorated with elaborate iron balconies. If you have visited the cities of Havana in Cuba, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, or San Juan, Puerto Rico, you will have a similar feeling of nostalgia for the days of pirates, conquistadores, golden coins, and hidden treasures. This is a city frozen in time.
