À propos du livre
A few years ago, on a fine warm August summers day, we had an invasion in the garden of butterflies. We have lots of nettles and budlea, which they thrive on, but we had never seen so many before in the garden, or since. They were so beautiful that I took far too many photographs of them but I then thought that it was worth selecting a few and making this book, because In the last two summers, worryingly, the garden has been virtually devoid of any butterflies at all.

I was born near Halifax in Yorkshire and grew up in the small village of Sowerby high on the Pennine hills. I received my first bicycle as a birthday present when I was thirteen years old. It led me to want to explore the world around me and then to extend my adventures during the rest of my life to traveling in all its forms. I took up sailing and mountain walking and emigrated to new Zealand and then to Australia for twenty years. I returned to live on the Isle of Skye where I ran a B&B business and now live in Galloway by the sea in beautiful South West Scotland.
