À propos du livre
HARDBACK COLLECTOR'S EDITION (Paperback version also available at http://www.blurb.co.uk/b/6912884-artaserse-paperback. Please note the PDF for the paperback and hardback versions is essentially the same)
Court intrigue is a dangerous thing. When the grand vizier Artabano masterminds a plot to murder the king of Persia and stage a coup, he swiftly finds events spiralling out of control. The young prince Artaserse, oblivious to his vizier's treachery, swears to avenge himself on his father's murderer. But, due to a tragic coincidence, all the evidence seems to point to Arbace, Artaserse's best friend and Artabano's only son. Now Artaserse must choose whether to believe his eyes or his heart, and Artabano must decide how far he is prepared to go in pursuit of his ambitions.
Xerxes, the king of Persia, was murdered in 465 BC, but this graphic novel takes the story as it was adapted by the 18th-century poet Pietro Metastasio. He transformed history into one of the most popular opera plots of the age, full of friendship, love, loyalty, villainy and vengeance.
Contains: 118 full-colour pages divided into three Acts, with a historical appendix telling the 'real' story. Hardcover with dustjacket and glossier paper, otherwise identical to the paperback.
