À propos du livre
Art historian Haley Jones' essay seeks to fill a void in scholastic research and interpretation on the works of Scottish contemporary artist Alison Watt. Once a painter of classically inspired female nudes, Watt now has devoted her practice entirely to the representation of increasingly abstracted draped fabric. Jones examines a selection of Watt's paintings from the 1990s to present day using feminist and psychoanalytic theory, attempting to establish a harmonious duality between the sacred and profane, the spiritual sense and fetishized sensuality, in Watt's works.
