À propos du livre
New York based art critic and photographer Nathan Kernan wrote about “Photographs” by Gerlof Janzen:
The book is simply great. Arising out of the lively "tradition" of snapshots, the photographs transcend it in a manner reminiscent of the work of Robert Frank, William Eggleston and Wolfgang Tillmans. Individual photographs stand out, but in addition the sum is greater than the parts-- it is a moving record of a lifetime of careful, intelligent, and affectionate looking, loving and traveling. The individual pictures are admirable, but also the inspired and witty pairings. The mysterious "Chambre Arabe" next to "Chapeau(x) for the New Rijksmuseum, "Seating Arrangement" and "New Seating Arrangement"… The thoughtful mini-essay on Amsterdam Antique Dealers" is very fine.
