À propos du livre
In the depths of World War II on June 6, 1944, Allied forces crossed the English Channel and invaded the coast of Normandy, France. The invasion was named D-Day, using a common military term where the D stands for the day an attack begins.
Seventy years later, Kevin Hong of Sector K Media, LLC and Lyle Jansma of AeroCapture Images set out to capture some of the events commemorating the invasion of D-Day in England and France.
Together they felt compelled to undertake a mission of their own. For ten days they witnessed ceremonies in small towns and met with veterans who survived World War II as well as residents who remember.
Starting in Portsmouth, England, they joined the Round Canopy Parachuting Team Inc., traveling in C-47 Dakotas on their journey to honor Allied paratroopers who fought and died in Europe.
Participating in an event called Daks Over Normandy, the team boarded the C-47 Dakota transports, and crossed the English Channel following the same route that the Allied Forces flew on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
This book is a photographic journal honoring the veterans and the sacrifices they made on D-Day. May God bless all of the military personnel who continue to fight and preserve the freedom we have today.
