À propos du livre
Les Arrondissements is a response to classic depictions of Paris by Atget, Brassai, Doisneau, Cartier-Bresson and Kertesz, in addition to more recent work by William Eggleston.
To merely pick up a camera while visiting Paris is to wilfully submit to committing an act of cliche. Paris has been photographed so many times that it is almost impossible to see the city anew. This series attempts to marry the romance of the tourist's eye with the quotidian experiences of the resident. Stereotypical scenes are subverted; famous landmarks largely ignored; the unseen corners move to centre stage - offering a new way of seeing the city.
