À propos du livre
Manifestations: A Painterly Impression, is a book that illustrates the Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition by Abraham Camayd. In this exhibition, Camayd explores the concept of sublimity through referencing landscapes, natural occurrences, and complex interior spaces. The juxtaposition of design components, color, intuitive mark marking and solvent and ink reticulations, are used in his dynamic compositions to communicate his personal concept of the sublime. His palette ranges from vibrant colors to subtle neutral tones and blacks, and the scale of the works ranges up to impressive 3 x 7 foot triptychs. Embracing chance, intuition and spontaneity, Camayd’s use of the monotype process allows him to make one-of-a-kind painterly prints formed by his skillful and free manipulation of the inks on the surface of the plate before running it through the press to commit the final image to paper: his process is actually more spontaneous than painting directly on canvas.
