À propos du livre
In late 2006, I envisioned this project as a clever way to draw people into thinking about the ‘guest worker’ aspect of immigration policy reform. My plan was to use the touching faces of these men to lure viewers into thinking about a topic that might otherwise seem dry and unappealing. I knew very little about the Bracero program when I considered this project, but I presumed the Braceros were exploited because they were so incredibly vulnerable. I am not against guest worker programs in theory, but I wanted any future programs to protect the vulnerable workers. I wanted a future program to learn from the mistakes and abuses of the past, and the Bracero program was America’s biggest guest worker experiment and touched the lives of 4.5 million Mexican men during the years of 1942-1964.
An eBook is available and a cheaper 7x7 print copy too. But 12x12 is a wonderful coffee table size to enjoy and is being sold here at the cost of production (ie, I make no profit).
