“The sound of silence”, “Reflection”, “Simplicity”, “A winter’s tale”, “Meditation”, the themes chosen by the photographers we are publishing in this issue, show a desire to break free from a world that has become too busy. The information revolution is upsetting our relationship to time and space and is spawning meaningless activity, a culture of immediacy: “everything right now”, in which we are losing ourselves. In this issue, a common denominator links all the photo essays: they exhibit a familiar environment, close to childhood and its poetic dimension with its infinite possibilities. In their own way, these photographers are resistants, in “a period of consequences”*, sustainable development concerns not only the depletion of environmental resources, but extinguishment in all its forms: physical, spatial and temporal. It is up to us to stand together, so that all that we know and can do, does not oppose what we are, or “the obsolescence of man”** would be the ultimate consequence. We have to defend the ecology of spirit and awareness.
Mots d’Images wishes you a happy holiday season filled with reflection, simplicity, meditation, storytelling, and why not ... silence too!
